50+ years of helping people

discover God’s Word

To know God deeply and live differently

Life-changing intimacy with God is the heart of Precept. Since 1970, we’ve been equipping small group Bible Study Leaders who can help you discover the truth of Scripture for yourself, but not by yourself.

Our History

A group of students listening to Kay Arthur sitting on grass outdoors near a lake, with a barn and wooded hills in the background.
A group of five people listening to Kay Arthur sitting in a classroom or lecture hall, taking notes and listening attentively, with Bibles and notebooks in front of them.
Kay Arthur sitting on a patterned sofa with cushions, reading a Bible in a cozy living room setup with plants, a wooden coffee table, a lamp, and a TV camera filming her.

Since 1970, Precept has been training leaders, creating resources, and developing a Bible study method to help people grow in their relationship with God.

Under the direction of Kay and Jack Arthur, Precept began as a Bible study ministry in Tennessee (USA), before Kay wrote the first Precept Upon Precept study on the book of Romans in 1975. The ministry began to grow, with new resources, a radio programme and even a television show in the eighties.

Kay Arthur spoke in Belfast in 2001, and Precept Northern Ireland began shortly afterwards. Soon it spread to the whole of Ireland, and since then, thousands of people have studied God’s Word using the Inductive Bible Study Method and Precept resources.

Our Mission

Our mission is to engage people in relationship with God through knowing His Word, so we focus on making God’s Word accessible to all people everywhere.

We write and publish Bible study workbooks that emphasize individual discovery, group discussion, and life application.

We train Bible study leaders to guide these discussion groups and disciple others so they may be transformed by the truth they learn.

Our mission statement highlights that life-changing intimacy with God is the true heart of Precept. We emphasize Bible study and Bible knowledge not as an end to itself, but because they lead us to a personal, transformational relationship with God.

Our vision is to see every believer in Christ living out God’s Word everyday.

We hope to reach Christians of all ages across Ireland with the life-transforming truth of God’s Word. We pray that as people study and learn God’s Word, they will come to know Jesus Christ personally and that their everyday decisions and actions will be shaped by their relationship with Him.
